Notably, Lenovo has succeeded in making it lighter (about one pound less) than most rival laptops. However, considering performance, its value or ‘value’ doesn’t seem very effective.
Compared to rival like ‘Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI’ at same price, ‘RTX 5060’ makes this system speed feel limited; because that rival laptop gives upgraded CPU and more powerful components like ‘RTX 5070 Ti’ at same price.

Lenovo offers various configurations (specification options) for Legion 7i Gen 10 on its web store. It starts with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070, while other features are as noted above. At time of writing its starting price was $2,450.
Options to add additional 1TB drive to increase storage and change display to 240Hz panel are also available.
The configuration we tested appears to be a particularly low-price (budget-friendly) model, using Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX and RTX 5060. It’s available at ‘Best Buy’ for $1,949.

Legion 7i performance is excellent. Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX is one of its strengths, providing excellent ‘single-core’ and ‘multi-core’ capabilities.
This keeps system speed good and GPU gets all help needed to do its work. Legion 7i’s cooling system is effective for continuous speed and doesn’t make much noise while running.
These features make it a capable 1080p gaming laptop; but due to RTX 5060 and 8GB VRAM, this system’s capabilities for beyond performance will remain somewhat limited.
Playing modern heavy games like ‘Assassin’s Creed: Shadows’ with ‘ray-tracing’, without ‘upscaling’ support reaching steady ’60 frames per second’ (fps) speed is difficult.
For 1080p resolution and relatively light games, this is an excellent option.

‘Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI’ cannot be ignored; it’s available at lower price $1,899 and has more powerful ‘RTX 5070 Ti’.
This gives not only better original graphics performance, but also additional 4GB VRAM for high resolution and more detailed graphics. Also, it uses ‘Intel Core i9 275HX’ processor.
Briefly, Lenovo leads in design and gives fast storage (which currently costs very high price), but considering only gaming performance, Acer is a big challenge.

Considering battery life, ‘Legion 7i’ performance is average level expected from gaming laptop. In our online streaming test, it fell slightly short of reaching five-hour mark.
This performance is not bad and makes it superior to ‘Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI’, but recently some improvements have been seen in other systems.
During tes
ting Alienware 16X Aurora and Lenovo LOQ 15 both laptops gave more than seven hours battery life, while HP Omen 16 reached nearly 14 hours.
Legion 7i performance remained consistent; in daily use its battery lasted about four to five hours.
This shows that when ‘discrete GPU’ (independent graphics processor) is not needed, this system effectively turns it off — and in this regard all laptops are not equally reliable.

An attractive and restrained look, with premium materials. Legion 7i gives some signs of being a gaming laptop, but if RGB-lit keyboard is turned off or set to white color, it looks very ordinary and simple laptop (doesn’t draw special attention).
Its completely white color scheme and chamfered metal trim on edges give it a clean and attractive look, where fingerprints don’t easily show.
However, scratches can appear on display lid, so when traveling it’s better to keep it in ‘sleeve’ (protective cover).
Surprisingly, its entire chassis is made of aluminum; because only touching lid and silver-colored trim gives metal feel.
Special surface treatment on remaining parts makes it feel like plastic, but it’s very strong and flex is negligible.

Compared to other laptops in our category, Legion 7i may not do anything very different, but in weight it’s definitely superior; because this 4.3 lbs laptop is one full pound lighter than most rivals.
This weight is even less than Lenovo’s ‘non-gaming’ Yoga Pro 9i 16 Gen 10 Aura Edition.
It’s also thin in size, with thickness only 0.7 inch.
Due to its overall size, it took some effort to fit in my backpack’s laptop compartment (made for 15-inch laptop), but finally it fit properly.
Its 245-watt large power adapter reduces laptop’s portability, but with support for up to 100-watt PD charging, you can keep adapter at home and charge laptop via USB.
Not enough for full-power gaming, but definitely useful for productivity work during travel.

Considering productive work, Legion 7i’s keyboard is very comfortable to use. Its keys are slightly dish-shaped and give a nice, clear poppy feel when pressed.
In just one day of use, I easily reached 114 words per minute typing speed with 97% accuracy.
Full-sized and ‘offset’ (different position from other keys) arrow keys are excellent for navigation; also, keys in number pad are slightly narrow, but its standard layout is extra benefit for both data entry and gaming.
Trackpad feels slightly small compared to 16-inch laptop, but it gives enough space for ‘multi-finger gestures’, and its surface is smooth and ‘click’ experience is very clear and satisfying.

It has excellent connectivity options. For connecting old devices (peripherals), it has two USB-A ports, and for docking it gives one 10Gbps USB-C port and one Thunderbolt 4 port with more bandwidth.
On right side full-size SD card reader is also given, which makes this laptop’s ‘professional’ appearance more highlighted.
To avoid wire clutter when using laptop on desk, Lenovo placed power jack and HDMI 2.1 port on laptop’s back side.
However, not giving Thunderbolt 4 port on back side feels like a drawback; because if it were, docking station wire arrangement could be more neat.

Many gaming laptops use as large surface as possible for heat exhaust; this often causes weird port arrangement on sides or hot air comes directly on mouse-using hand.
‘Legion 7i’ has heat exhaust mechanism directly on back side and no negative effect on performance is seen.
While gaming, laptop fans don’t make much noise, so without increasing volume much, game audio comes clearly through laptop’s normal quality speakers.
Even under heavy system load, keyboard or palm-rest area’s top part doesn’t get hot.

‘Legion 7i’ display is good, but in 2026 it doesn’t feel very different or unique. 2,560×1,600 resolution OLED displays have become a baseline for laptops in this category; so I was surprised seeing its refresh rate limited to only 165Hz.
‘Acer Predator Helios 16S AI’ which gives tough competition to ‘Legion’ in performance also uses same panel, but it gives 240Hz speed.
Still, Lenovo’s display capability is definitely excellent; it has 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage, 503-nits peak brightness, and excellent ‘black levels’.
However, these features don’t give it much advantage over rivals.
Above display, Lenovo gave 5-megapixel webcam, which includes IR sensors for fast sign-in via ‘Windows Hello’ facial recognition.
This webcam gives clear and natural visuals, but good light is needed so images don’t look grainy.
The small lip for webcam also makes opening laptop easier.

If you want to upgrade in future, you can add second M.2 SSD or change memory.Still, according to Lenovo’s details, it supports maximum 32 GB memory.

Legion 7i may not perform best in every way, but overall good balance is achieved in it. Its look and design are excellent; especially considering weight, compared to many other 16-inch gaming laptops, this laptop is more convenient to carry.
Main reason for buying gaming laptop instead of desktop is it can be easily taken anywhere, so this is a big advantage.
Its performance is also powerful, but it’s not the best in this category. If style and premium build quality are more important for you, then Legion 7i is an excellent option; but if you want ‘most frames-per-dollar’, then Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI wins.
