Guardians vs Dodgers 4-2: Messick’s 6 Scoreless Shocks Ohtani & Perfect Streak!

Published:

Cleveland Guardians shocked the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in a thrilling guardians vs dodgers upset, powered by rookie Parker Messick’s masterful 6 scoreless innings that silenced Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman while a explosive 7th-inning rally built an unbeatable lead to end LA’s flawless start.

Messick, hes a lefty and this was basically his big moment. He faced all those stars like Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman, and they only got five hits off him total. No walks either, and he struck out five. It seems like he was super focused, keeping the pressure on. The Guardians were 3 and 2 after this, not bad.

Then in the seventh, things exploded for Cleveland. They loaded the bases with singles from Hedges, Martinez, and Kwan. Hoskins walked, and a wild pitch brought Hedges home. Schneemann hit this double that drove in two more, making it 4 nothing. That rally just built this huge lead that the Dodgers couldnt touch.

The Dodgers side, their new guy Roki Sasaki debuted and he looked pretty good at first. Four innings, four hits, one run, four strikeouts, but two walks. Kwan got that early RBI double off his slider in the first, putting the Guardians up 1 to 0. Sasaki got taken out after a leadoff hit in the fifth. His cutter was whiffing guys left and right, nine times even, but his control slipped a bit. The Dodgers offense though, they had nine hits but left so many runners on base. Ice cold, I guess.

Closer for the Guardians, Cade Smith, he had a shaky ninth with some wild pitches. Betts got an RBI double, and Freeman a groundout RBI, so it was 4 to 2. But he struck out Heyward to end it. Dave Roberts said Messick outdueled them, and their bats need to wake up. Yeah, that makes sense.

Jose Ramirez played his 1,614th game for the Guardians, tying some old record with Nappy LaJoie. Hes close to passing another guy soon. The crowd at Progressive Field went wild, especially when the bullpen finally gave up a run in the seventh, first of the year for them.

This snapped the Dodgers three game winning streak against the Diamondbacks or whatever. They were 3 and 1. Ohtani and those big hitters combined for not much. Dismal, really.

Stats wise, Messick had six innings, zero earned runs, five Ks. Sasaki four innings, one run, four Ks. Kwan with the RBI double early. Betts late with his.

Tomorrow, its Bibee for the Guardians against Ohtani pitching for the Dodgers. Ohtanis first time on the mound this season. Could be revenge or something. The series finale at Progressive.

Overall, it shows how even MLB can be, with rookies shining and those clutch hits. Opening month stuff like this is exciting, even if the Dodgers streak ended kind of abruptly. I think Messick might be a name to watch, but who knows how it plays out.
