The Porsche Macan Gas Ending 2026 marks the end of an era for Porsche’s top-selling US model, with over 27,000 units sold in 2025 alone. Production at the Leipzig factory halts by June 2026, pushing buyers toward the electric Macan EV amid surging demand for the final gas versions. When it first came out back in 2013, the Macan really caught on fast as this compact SUV that mixes luxury with some real performance. Its not the biggest Porsche, but after the Cayenne its pretty popular in America. The engines vary, like the base one with a 2.0 liter turbo making 265 horsepower, or the fancier V6 in the S model at 375, and then the GTS pushes 434. They all come with that 7 speed PDK transmission and all wheel drive, getting to 100 km per hour in around 6 seconds or so. Top speed is up to 232 km per hour. Stuff like that makes it fun to drive.

In the US, demand for the gas Macan is still high, partly because those EV tax credits got cut off here. The CFO mentioned sending more stock over because people want it. Sales picked up in early 2025 too. But production stops by June 2026 at the Leipzig factory, though they will keep selling whats left into 2027. Porsche wants to go mostly electric by 2030, so the Macan EV came out last year on this new platform. The gas one is not getting any updates anymore.

Features wise, it has a 10.9 inch touchscreen, seats that ventilate, a 360 camera, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping stuff. Inside theres a clock and carbon fiber bits, boot space around 488 liters. Safety is solid with five stars and eight airbags, plus some suspension tech. Mileage is about 10 to 12 km per liter, which is okay for what it is. The EV version though, it goes up to 630 horsepower, range over 590 km, and accelerates in 3.3 seconds. Still, in the US folks seem to prefer the gas for now, maybe because of charging worries or just the range on long trips.

Globally they sold 84,000 Macans last year, with over half being EVs already. In America its 27,000 something, up a bit from 2024. It beats out things like the BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC in sales. But with the gas ending, people might look at other options, like the X3 M40i or AMG GLC. Porsche is stocking up though.

If someone wants a gas Macan, better to get it soon since stock wont last forever. Prices start at 60,000 dollars for the base, up to 105,000 for the GTS. Test driving it shows off the performance right away. You can customize colors and wheels through their exclusive program. Maintenance runs maybe 1,000 to 2,000 a year. Resale should hold up well, I think. For the EV, make sure you have charging set up.

The whole thing with ending the gas model ties into this bigger push toward electrics. By 2028 there might be a new one thats hybrid or something based on the Audi Q5. Demand for EVs in the US could grow even without tax credits, especially if infrastructure gets better. Like with the Taycan, the Macan EV might catch on eventually. Its just that the gas ones journey for buyers here feels like its wrapping up in a way, heading electric next. Some parts of this transition seem messy still.
